I have lived in Venezuela now for many years, dances like the "Tambores" (Drums) have similar hip movements to the Arabic dances. These dances are thousands of years old and carry similar common elements, like magic, sensuality, mystery and ritualistic purposes. There's rituals for fertility, womanhood, marriage, healing; a ritual for whatever you want. I love rituals and perform them all the time. Its wonderful how it connects you to our earth and gives you this incredible feeling of power : The power of beautiful Mother earth.
